How To Control A Flow Of Thoughts

How To Control A Flow Of Thoughts

Over the years I've come to understand that I have the power to do whatever I set my mind on. This may be a term that you're familiar with which is ‘manifestation’ or manifesting. Because I have control over what I set my mind on, that helps me focus. Over time though, I started to have an expectation that I will be able to get whatever outcome I thought of. The flip side to this is sometimes it's not that way. That was a harsh reality to swallow.

As a recent Certified Natural Healer Usui Reiki Master, the flow of thought was part of the topics covered. Releasing control over my thoughts is where meditation comes into play. When we meditate or pray, we are intentionally seeking answers. Through intentionally seeking answers, you may notice numerous thoughts start to flood your mind.

It is perfectly fine if there are so many thoughts and it can be very overwhelming. Honestly speaking for myself it does get overwhelming. The way that flow happens is it can become a raging waterfall of thoughts into an ocean of other thoughts. A way that I am able to bring myself to focus is through breathing.

Our breath, in my point of view, is one of the most powerful things that we have as a superpower. The reason I say that is because when you tie in breathing with your thoughts you are able to allow yourself to focus on what is a hand.

If you count your inhale, hold, and exhale your mind will only be focused on that. Doing this consistently keeps your mind only focused on those numbers. There may be moments your mind drifts into many thoughts but breathing and counting your breaths will help to anchor you.

Breathing also saves our lives.

Give these instructions a try and see how you feel. Ask yourself these questions afterward:

  1. Do I feel calmer?
  2. Did any anxious feelings decrease?
  3. Am I in better spirits or mood?
